Build your trip to New Caledonia

CHALLENGE

Launch a campaign on Facebook and Instagram to acquire leads from potential customers in Japan.

SOLUTION

Aircalin, New Caledonia’s official airline, has direct flights from Tokyo and Osaka to Noumea. Looking to gather leads from their growing fanbase, they tasked us with creating a campaign that would help them accomplish that.

Rather than implementing a typical lead-gathering campaign asking people to fill out a form, we wanted to engage fans with something a bit more fresh. We created the "Build your trip to New Caledonia" campaign which focused on interaction with our custom built Messenger Bot.

From Facebook and Instagram, people entered into a "conversation" with our AI chatbot.

To get them thinking about what kind of trip they wanted to have for themselves, we asked them a few questions like "What are you looking forward to doing the most?" and "What food do you want to try?". We presented them with a range of visual options each time, and all they had to do was click on the one that most appealed to them.

The Bot reacted and mimicked a human interaction before continuing the conversation and asking another question. People were entered into the lottery to win a trip to New Caledonia at the end.

Combined with our efforts managing their Japanese Facebook community, Aircalin is able to increase brand awareness and inspire people to travel with them to New Caledonia.

RESULTS

Our Messenger Bot campaign drastically cut CPA costs by -57% - leads were only about 43% the cost of a previous effort's.

In addition, we were able to gain valuable insights from audience interactions with our Bot. We collected data on when exactly Japanese wanted to travel, who with, what they wanted to do and more - information that will help guide future marketing actions.
